Integrations

Does Roccai integrate with Mailchimp?

Yes. Roccai adds and updates subscribers in a Mailchimp audience using your API key and audience ID. Subscribers are tagged with the campaign they came from, and guide answers are written to merge fields — so a newsletter can finally be segmented on what people actually said they wanted.

How the Mailchimp connection works

Every subscriber arrives tagged and with their answers in merge fields — so you can stop sending one newsletter to everyone.

Mailchimp needs an API key and the audience ID you want subscribers added to. You can also set a tag — for example a campaign name, or something like "Roccai" or "instagram" — and pair each Roccai source field with the Mailchimp merge field it should populate.

Subscribers are tagged with the campaign name automatically, or with the tag you set if you provide one. That tagging is what makes the data usable: a segment can be built from where someone came from as well as what they told you.

What you can do with it

Segment a campaign on stated preference rather than on opens and clicks — the answers are in merge fields, so Mailchimp's own segment builder can read them.

Tag by source so newsletter, social and offline signups stay distinguishable in one audience.

Replace the generic welcome email with one that references what the person actually said they were looking for.

Fix the audience full of email-only contacts you cannot segment, by giving every new subscriber preference data from the moment they arrive.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Roccai to Mailchimp?

Add your Mailchimp API key and audience ID to the Mailchimp integration in Roccai, optionally set a tag, choose which campaigns feed it, and map your Roccai fields to Mailchimp merge fields. No developer needed.

How are Roccai subscribers tagged in Mailchimp?

By the campaign name the guide was shared under. If you set your own tag in the integration, that is used instead — useful when you want everything from a given channel grouped under one label.

Can I write guide answers to Mailchimp merge fields?

Yes. The integration has a mapping table where you pair each Roccai source field with the merge field it should populate, so answers arrive as structured audience data you can segment and personalise on.

Which Mailchimp audience do subscribers go to?

The one whose audience ID you enter in the integration. Each Roccai integration points at a single audience, and you control which campaigns feed it, so different guides can populate different audiences.

Can I segment a Mailchimp campaign on Roccai preference data?

Yes — that is the point of writing answers to merge fields rather than attaching them as a note. Once the data is in merge fields and tags, Mailchimp's segment builder treats it like any other subscriber attribute.

Other Roccai integrations

Roccai also connects natively to HubSpot, Ortto, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign and Zapier & custom webhook. For the full list, the data that flows and the payload reference, see all Roccai integrations.
